FAQ
Q: What is Amnesty International?A: Amnesty International is a self governing organisation, independent of any political, economic or religious ideology. The organisation currently has over 2.2 million members, supporters and subscribers in over 150 countries worldwide, united in their vision to protect human rights.
Q: What do you do on campus at UTS?A: At UTS, we endeavour to uphold and affiliate ourselves with the ideals the organisation propagates.
This year, in our first experience in the executive at UTS, we have been very successful in terms of campaigning, activities, and events that we have run or participated in. We have raised our profile on campus, and recruited a number of students to the cause of defending human rights.
Events and activities include drinks nights, stalls on campus, letter writing, film screenings, forums and guest speakers.
In 2008, we hope to be bigger and stronger in our quest to recruit more members to this worthy cause, and raise further awareness and understanding of pressing human rights issues both in Australia and worldwide...But to do this, we need YOU!
Q: How do I join?A: Membership is easy! It's only $5 for the university year. Join at the Union desk, located ground floor Broadway tower next to Glasshouse Bar.
