About Us

Welcome to the Amnesty International Society at the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS AIA)!

About UsAs a newly formed group of UTS students in 2007, we are dedicated to raising awareness on campus about human rights issues.

We support Amnesty International's global movement to defend and respect human rights, protect people facing abuse and uphold dignity. We actively support and promote a culture where human rights are protected, embraced and appreciated.

As a university society we are committed to upholding the vision proposed by Amnesty International Australia i.e. a world where every person enjoys all of the human rights enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international human rights standards.

Every year we focus on various campaigns that are of relevance both nationally and internationally. In collaboration with the UTS Union and the NSW Amnesty Resource Centre, UTS AIA co-ordinates events and campaigns on campus to inform students of pressing human rights violations, encouraging them to assist through petitions, letter writing and donations.

We encourage all students to join us in promoting this worthy cause – sign up to UTS AIA today and help us fight for liberty, justice and peace!

Membership:

It's $5 for the whole university year. You can register your interest in becoming a UTS AIA member here.

"Those who today still feel a sense of impotence can do something: they can support Amnesty International. They can help it to stand up for freedom and justice." -- Peter Benenson (1921-2005), founder of Amnesty International
